Our Principal Solicitor Andrew McLaughlin trained and practised with some of Scotland's leading private firms before establishing the firm in 2013. Andrew is particularly interested in divorce and family law, adults with incapacity matters and also debt recovery and commercial disputes. Andrew also enjoys taking on difficult or unusual cases and has appeared before many different courts and tribunals.
Andrew is also retained by numerous successful businesses to advise on debt recovery matters and to defend and avoid employment disputes arising. In August 2017 Andrew was appointed by the Judical Appointments Board for Scotland as a part time Legal Member of the First-tier Tribunal for Scotland.
Andrew is a graduate of Edinburgh Law School, L.L.B (Hons) Dip L.P. and is a Notary Public. Andrew lives on the Fife Coast with his young family. Outside of practising law and spending time with his children he is interested in sports, guitars and foreign languages and culture.
Senior Legal Consultant
Laura McLaughlin is our Senior Legal Consultant.
Laura trained and practised at the Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service for 10 years where she appeared in Sheriff and Justice of the Peace courts across Scotland. Laura also worked in a number of specialised units including those dealing with Health and Safety prosecutions, High Court sexual offences, international co-operation and extradition and deaths. Laura's experience dealing with sudden and unexplained deaths has given her a valuable insight into the workings of the Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service in such cases which proves valuable when advising her clients on the best course of action in relation the conduct of a Fatal Accident Inquiry.
Laura is an experienced litigator, however her experience has also afforded her excellent negotiation skills which she uses to ensure all options are explored on behalf of her clients before litigation is considered. Laura leads the firm's criminal defence practice focusing on white collar crime, road traffic law representation and business defence.
In October 2016 Laura was appointed as a Legal Convener of the Mental Health Tribunal for Scotland.
Laura is a graduate of Edinburgh Law School where she gained her LLB (hons) and Diploma in Legal Practice. Laura is also a Notary Public.
Rosalyn joined McLaughlin & Co as a Legal Executive in 2016, shortly thereafter becoming a trainee. She is now approaching the end of her second year and has received her restricted Practising Certificate from the Law Society enabling her to appear in Court.
Throughout her traineeship Rosalyn has experienced a wide variety of cases and has become a valued member of our team.
Senior Secretary and Management Assistant
Lucy Anderson is our senior secretary and management assistant and has a HNC in legal services. Some of Lucy’s roles include: assisting the solicitors, monitoring new and existing clients and training new employees.
Lucy joined the team in September 2016 as a Modern Apprentice whilst undertaking additional qualifications with Fife College in administrative skills. Lucy has a keen interest in all aspects of legal work.
In her spare time, Lucy enjoys going out with friends and pursuing her interest in beauty and make-up artistry.
