Laura McLaughlin
Principal
Laura McLaughlin trained and practised with the Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service for over 10 years, appearing in Sheriff and Justice of the Peace Courts across Scotland. Her work within specialised units — including Health and Safety prosecutions, High Court sexual offences, international co-operation and extradition, and deaths investigations — provided her with exceptional insight into complex and sensitive matters.
Although an experienced litigator, Laura’s career has also honed her negotiation and dispute-resolution skills. She is committed to helping clients find constructive, dignified outcomes wherever possible, ensuring that litigation is considered only as a last resort. Her focus is on guiding clients through separation and conflict with discretion, clarity, and balance.
A graduate of Edinburgh Law School, Laura holds her LLB (Hons) and Diploma in Legal Practice, and is also a Notary Public.
Laura was appointed as a tribunal Legal Convener in 2016 and as a Legal Member of the First-tier Tribunal for Scotland in 2022.
